Is it Ok to buy a Buddha statue, or does it bring buddha bad luck?
I want to get a buddha statue and to create a meditation area in my living room. However I’ve told that buying a buddha for yourself brings bad luck, or does it bring buddha bad luck. I don’t know if that’s true?
Buying a Buddha statue for yourself will not bring bad luck. Think about what you have already learned in your studies of Buddhism – does this kind of superstition fit in?
Buying a Buddha statue for yourself will not bring bad luck
I have read a lot about Buddhism and I don’t recall any teachings about statues bringing luck but rather you create your own karma and life is difficult anyways. You can lessen your suffering by following the Tao ( the Way)j Awareness, Desiring less, Compassion, Right Speech, Right Mind and so on. I find it all very rational and not about luck at all. T here are some people who believe the Buddha statue brings you luck. The fat gold one is usually depicts this. There are many types of Buddha statues in different poses that have different meanings.
The statue of the Buddha reminds us of the human dimension in Buddhist teaching, the fact that Buddhism is human-centered, rather than god-centered, that we must look within to find perfection and understanding.
If the statue is for praying, is best that you purify the statue
Don’t treat it with a dark heart, otherwise you will attract demons. Buddhists do not worship an image expecting worldly or spiritual favors, but pay their reverence to what it represents.
However, if the statue is for praying, is best that you purify the statue and perform the “open-light” ritual before use, you can get a good monk to do it and do consider the feng-shui about how to put on a praying table. (You may consult monks of True-Buddha School, that I recommend)
